Certica Solutions Appoints Martin Brutosky to Board of Directors
Industry Veteran Brings Additional Education Market Experience to K-12 Software Provider
WAKEFIELD, Mass., January 28, 2009 – Certica Solutions, a provider of compliance and accountability software solutions for the K-12 education market, today announced that it has named Martin Brutosky to its Board of Directors. Certica’s software enables K-12 school districts to certify the school and student data that serves as the basis for district funding and is used to measure districts’ level of compliance with education policies.
Brutosky’s experience will help Certica further solidify its presence in the K-12 education software market. He has implemented successful sales, marketing, business development and investment recruitment strategies at several leading technology companies. His tenure in the education software field includes his current position as chief executive officer of eChalk, Inc., a provider of secure, web-based K-12 communication systems. Prior to joining eChalk, Brutosky served as chief executive officer at TetraData Corporation, a leading provider of data warehousing, analysis and reporting solutions for K-12 school districts. TetraData was acquired by education software company Follett Software in 2006.
“The addition of Martin Brutosky augments our Board leadership in numerous ways,” said Mark Rankovic, Certica’s president and chief executive officer. “Martin’s experience and success in the K-12 education market is invaluable to us as we broaden our software offerings to further serve the needs of school districts and the networks of educational service agencies that support these districts. As school districts are increasingly challenged by federal and state reporting and compliance requirements, Martin’s perspective will provide us with important insight as we go to market with new solutions.”
In addition to Rankovic, Brutosky will serve with Certica Board of Directors members Edward C. “Ned” Williams, partner with Brook Venture Partners, and Jeffrey Averick, Certica co-founder and chief technology officer. Certica completed a Series B investment, led by Brook Venture Partners, in March 2008.
