Certica Solutions Combines Online Assessment with the ETS Item Bank
WAKEFIELD, Mass., July 12, 2011 – Certica Solutions, a leading provider of P-12 education performance management solutions, today announced that its TestWiz™ student assessment suite now provides functionality to create and administer assessments online, and to analyze those results independently or with other assessment results. The introduction of online assessment, in combination with a rich set of test items available in TestWiz, is the latest advance in Certica’s commitment to providing educators with local assessments which are aligned with the Common Core State Standards.
TestWiz, used by more than 400 districts, charter schools and private schools nationwide, enables educators to better target instruction, assess teacher effectiveness and track student progress, by analyzing multiple student assessments simultaneously. TestWiz scans, scores, processes and reports on a wide range of local, state and standardized assessments – and allows administrators and teachers to create formative and benchmark tests using their own test items, or choose items from the nationally recognized ETS Item Bank, which contains over 64,000 items.
TestWiz’s ability to create and administer online assessments, currently available for use with the TestWiz ETS Item Bank, allows educators to meet objectives for online testing, while implementing high-quality local assessments aligned with the Common Core State Standards which have now been adopted by 45 states. The Common Core State Standards Initiative is a state-led effort coordinated by the National Governors Association (NGA) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), and provides a consistent framework for learning content, assessment and benchmarks, to better prepare students for college and careers.
Said Mark Rankovic, Certica Solutions’ president and CEO, “over the past two years, state departments of education have moved in the direction of the Common Core State Standards as a pillar of the Race to the Top reform initiative. With TestWiz, the combination of online assessment and standards-aligned test items means that educators can create rigorous, standards-focused formative assessments with easy online administration, and compare those results with state and standardized tests. Certica is committed to supporting educators’ use of the Common Core State Standards and providing meaningful, accessible data which informs instruction.”
TestWiz, formerly offered by dataMetrics Software, was recently acquired by Certica Solutions. See related news release, “Certica Solutions Acquires dataMetrics Software,” June 8, 2011.
